Lubbock is the first municipality in ERCOT to voluntarily switch to a customer choice model since the start of the competitive market in 1999. As such, there is a need for detailed analysis of which providers are offering the most savings. The spreadsheet below allows you to input data from your utility bill or from our solar design software to see which plan may work best for your existing or future solar/battery system.
If you would like to use the spreadsheet below, just click on the arrow in the upper right hand corner.
Current solar customers can enter their usage data from their bills under the 'Delivered' and 'Received' rows for each month.
'Delivered' is the amount of energy in KWH that the utility sent to you—often listed under 'Energy Charge'
'Received' is the amount of energy in KWH that you sent to the utility—often listed under 'Buyback Credit' or 'Generation Reimbursement' or other similar names.
Self consumption is the amount of energy you used directly from solar during the day. It is not reflected on your utility bill.
Once you have entered your data, you can simply click on 'Summary' at the bottom of the spreadsheet to see which plans might be cheapest. You can click on the far right column 'Year Total' and 'Sort A to Z'.
Keep in mind that Gexa, Frontier and Chariot do not currently have plans in the LP&L service territory as of 7/24/24. As of 7/24/24, Share the Light usually recommends TXU Solar Buyback Match 12 or Direct Energy Solar Unlimited 12 for cases where you generally send back more than is delivered to you ('Received' is greater than 'Delivered') For opposite cases where you generally send back less than is delivered to you ('Received' is less than 'Delivered') Share the Light usually recommends Green Mountain Renewable Rewards Essential 12.
